There are many strange events taking place all over the world in these days of change. These are the times when the simple things in life seem to take on more meaning, perhaps more than ever before. Family is one of those simple things, and this recording is about three generations of a Canadian musical family coming together after long and separate journeys apart.

It all happened under the teeming stars one hot night in a small nightclub in the heart of the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. And it happened for all the right reasons, with folks and all the relatives traveling from far and wide. From B.C., New York, London, and the icy lands of northern Norway, they came.

The family had come together for the love, and the thankfulness, and deep appreciation, that somewhere, somehow, someone forever dear had invented...New Orleans Jazz.

Yes, jazz. This story begins in a little unpainted ranch house near a bad salty marsh lake called...Bad Lake...on the bald Saskatchewan prairie on September 19th, 1927 with the birth of Lloyd Arntzen, who apparently knew right away what to do, as the faint melodies of "Brother Can You Spare A Dime?" could be heard in his sweet baby wail.
And now, 77 wonderful years later, Lloyd is joined onstage by sons and grandsons, musicians all, and it seems the story has just begun.

It's notable enough when two generations in one family appear on stage together, but itıs unusual for three to be in the same ensemble. Music is in the Arntzen blood, passed on from father to child to the grandchild: in this case, through sons Leif and Tom, and two grandsons, Miles and Evan.
